Rully Shabara

Born in Palu, Indonesia, 1982. Dedicated in exploring human voice as a medium of creation, and language as a subject to experiment with. Initiated numerous concept-based projects around voice as the main element for over two decades of experience. Delivered workshops around the globe that focus on using human voice as a rich resource to explore primal expression and improvisations, as well as constantly experimenting with various approaches and methods to keep expanding the potentials of each of his projects.

Have collaborated with many notable international musicians and artists such as Keiji Haino, Stephen O`Malley, Hildur Guðnadóttir, Otomo Yoshihide, Rabih Beaini, Damo Suzuki, Trevor Dunn, Arrington DeDionyso, Justin Vernon, Robert AA Lowe, and many more. Have performed in various important and prestigious venues, from small independent venues like CafeOTO in London or UNIT in Tokyo, major music festivals like Primavera in Barcelona or Dark MOFO in Tasmania, to legendary concert halls such as Lincoln Center in New York.
